- A basic introduction to the firearms industry, this course covers the skills and knowledge essential to firearms legislation, firearms in the community, licensing requirements, safe handling, safe storage and transport, as well as additional information which is essential to all shooters. This course covers Category A and B weapons, these are the most common firearms used for sports/target and recreational sporting. Course Outline

- Apply for a licence Online
- To apply for a weapons licence in Queensland you must:
- Meet the personal eligibility requirements
- Have a genuine reason to hold a licence.
- Have access to secure weapon storage.
- Complete an approved weapons safety course covering the category of weapon you’re applying for and provide your statement of attainment. The course must have been completed within the 12 months before the date of submitting your application.
- Provide the supporting documentation requested during the application process.
- Provide a passport-quality digital image of your head and shoulders against a plain background. This image will be printed on your licence card if your application is approved.
- Pay the required fees.
- Attend a Queensland Police Station with 100 points of identification once your application is at the final stages of assessment. (Online Application)
- Examples of evidence for genuine reason to hold a firearms licence include:
- Sports/Target Shooting Membership of a shooting club
- Recreational Shooting (Hunting) Details of your property or a letter from a property owner granting permission to use their property
- Occupational Requirement Details of your property and the requirement for firearms or a letter from your employer (including Primary Producers) outlining the requirement for you to use firearms
- Collection of Firearms Letter outlining the firearms to be collected or membership of an approved firearms collector’s guild
